About the crew

All you ever wanted to know but were too afraid to ask

One beautiful summer evening in 2014, four DJ friends met as usual in their favorite bar, and after many shots of tequila, they decided it was finally time to go for what they had been diligently contemplating for the past few weeks. The bar was Perpetuum, the four were Calli, Protago, Fish, and Split Personality, and on that beautiful summer night, Liquidators Crew was born, formed from alcoholic vapors, cigarette smoke, and pure love for liquid drum and bass.

Although their lineup has slightly changed over the years (Split Personality left the crew and was later replaced by 2Nine, and eventually Sinner and Crashman also joined), their mission remains the same—to stir up the relatively homogeneous Czech neuro/jumpup scene with their funky sets full of liquid, deep, and rolling tracks and to show people that an awesome drum and bass party doesn't have to be about the hardest beats. They are now also occasionally helped by saxophonist Ladis and trumpeter Fishboun, whose live shows can truly excite the crowd and add the perfect finishing touch to the DJ sets.

And it seems to be going quite well so far! In their home club, Liquidators regularly host their "flagship" party called Broken Orchestra, where over the years a number of liquid stars have graced the decks, including Hybrid Minds, Technimatic, LSB, Lenzman, Spectrasoul, BCee, Paul SG, MC Conrad, Alibi, SATL, Silence Groove, Malaky, and also Feint and Etherwood, who have been guests at more mainstream-oriented parties called "Watt The Funk?"

In addition to their own parties, Liquidators frequently appear as guests in various corners of the Czech Republic (and occasionally Slovakia) and in recent years, they can also boast of playing at summer festivals such as Let It Roll, Beats For Love, and Trident

Liquidators Crew Members

When you made it this far, here's a little bonus about each one of us :)

Calli

Calli has been actively DJing since the beginning of 2014. A pivotal moment in this journey was her meeting with Protago, who introduced her to the art of DJing, and together they founded the liquid duo "Protagonists." Soon after, at one of many drum and bass parties in Brno, they met Fish and Split Personality, and shortly thereafter, Liquidators Crew was formed.

Within the crew, Calli rules with a firm but fair hand, earning her the nickname "manageris"—not only does she excel at DJing, but she also handles the majority of the crew's organizational tasks, manages all the Liquidators events, takes care of the merchandise, and oversees paid promotions.

In her sets, she loves to mix soulful, emotive tracks, but as time progresses, she's not afraid to turn up the intensity and delve into deep, exploring its various forms—minimalist, driving, bubbly, rolling... You know the drill.

These days, you'll mostly see her DJing solo or in a b2b set with another crew member—the joint b2b name "Protagonists" has gradually faded into the background. Her greatest DJ achievements include playing alongside names like Technimatic, BCee, Alix Perez, Hybrid Minds, Skeptical, Lenzman, LSB, and performing at Czech and Slovak Hospitality nights and the Let It Roll festival.

Favorite artists:

LSB, Technimatic, Calibre, Dawn Wall, Artificial Intelligence, Macca, Loz Contreras, Command Strange, Bredren, Alix Perez, Alibi, Whiney, Gerra & Stone, Anile, Phil Tangent, Lenzman, Seba.

2Nine

Although 2Nine is the youngest addition to Liquidators Crew, paradoxically, he has been active in the drum and bass scene the longest of all its members—he first stepped behind the decks in 2008 at a tiny bar in his hometown of Jeseník. Despite having briefly lived in Brno by then, it was still his hometown that remained the place where he continued to grow as a DJ for many years.

In Brno, 2Nine eventually took on the role of co-hosting regular Wednesday parties, and Perpetuum became his long-time refuge. However, he grew quite tired of the neurofunk sound over time, so you now hear it from him only very rarely—these days, 2Nine primarily serves up orthodox liquid funk heavily mixed with various funky rollers, and he doesn't shy away from deep and halfstep, depending on the time and mood on the dance floor. One beautiful day at Perpetuum, 2Nine met Calli, Protago, and Fish, and after many shots of tequila, he was eventually welcomed into the Liquidators Crew, where he now serves as the main/only graphic designer, head of Spotify playlists, and IT "go-to guy" for everything.

In addition to DJing, 2Nine is also involved in production, but he doesn't limit himself to drum and bass. His alter ego "ICKE" is known for house music, and as if that weren't enough, he also has a third, currently most promoted pseudonym, "Pao," dedicated to slower BPM music like hip-hop, chillhop, lofi, and wave.

Fish

Fish's DJing beginnings date back to 2009, when he first got his hands on turntables, and from that moment, his fate was sealed. He first stepped behind the decks at parties in his hometown of Zlín, and in the following years, he regularly played at both smaller and larger events in the nearby Uherské Hradiště. A turning point in his DJ career came when he moved to Brno and co-founded Liquidators Crew there in 2014.

Fish's initial enthusiasm for all sub-genres of drum and bass eventually crystallized into a love for liquid funk. At home and behind the decks, he prefers faster beats spiced up with the legendary amen break, accompanied by jazz samples, and recently he has also developed a strong affinity for the more mainstream liquid sound.

By the way, if you happen to follow our Facebook fan page, know that 90% of the posts there were pinned by Fish—he is the main creator, planner, and implementer of most of Liquidators' online promo "happenings."

Protago

Protagoisn't exactly sure which year drum and bass first caught his attention, but he claims it was around 2007 when he heard High Contrast's track "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" online. This opened up a whole new world for him, and Protago was quickly consumed by it. After a while, however, simply "passively" listening to drum and bass wasn't enough for him, so he began to focus on DJing.

Initially, DJing didn't quite meet his expectations—he wanted to share the joy of mixing with others. In 2013, he met Calli, and by January 2014, they were performing together for the first time as the liquid DnB duo Protagonists. At that time, he also met Fish and the now non-active Split Personality, and a few months later, they all founded Liquidators Crew together.

In his sets, Protago primarily prefers old-school drum and bass and has a strong fondness for lively jazz elements full of trumpets and double basses. However, he also appreciates deeper sounds and "poppier" tracks, and he can't get enough of the amen break. Outside of DJing, he takes on the roles of main driver, mechanic, roadie, and technician all in one within the crew
